Okay with everyone saying it's an adaptation and not a remake. Let's say the argument is accepted, this time. Still, with so many good foreign films getting American remakes (within a few years of their release) do you really think it so strange that people are making a scapegoat of this one? I will say no more and i don't want to hear anymore about it either. If you have something to say about the art, comment on that.

A small tribute to the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo ( Män som hatar kvinnor ), the original one that is, the Swedish, filmed in 2009. I hope the unnecessary remake flops, i do not care how good of an actress Rooney Mara might be, she just makes Lisbeth Salander look like a goth-wannabe attention whore [link][link] , which is far from what the character is supposed to be like. I mean really, how can those two compare[link] ??! And why was there a need for a remake anyway? It was made in 2009 for god's shake and the plot requires none of Hollywood's fancy visual effects. It looks like they're either running out of ideas ( which is quite believable with all those remakes and reboots we've been bombarded with within the last decade ) or they have something against non-english language films ( though it's interesting that the rest of the world does not mind watching subtitled or dubbed films). What's next? A remake with Amélie speaking in English?? I just hope i won't see the day someone decides that the Lord of the Rings needs a remake or reboot. [link]
But seriously, if you want to watch the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, show some respect to those who put their effort and worked on the original and watch that instead. ( Or at least watch both.)
The girl in the painting is not meant to be Noomi Rapace's Lisbeth though because i'm no good with real people's likenesses.
I preffered Rooneys' version of Lisbeth ten fold, but as far as the movie as a whole goes, I preferred the American version. I was afraid they'd dull down the brutality of some of the scenes, but I think they paid a nice homage.
I love this picture! Though, being a fan of the books, I must say I rather liked Rooney far more than Noomi. Noomi is a great actress, just, I thought Rooney fit the description more... she had those eyes and the perfect, flat body. Anyways, I love this picture!
