Snow White Rose Red by Achen089 Snow White Rose Red by Achen089
Bookmark commission, requested by a client as a gift for her twin nieces whose favourite fairytale when they were children was Snow White and Rose Red.
I was given full artistic freedom so i gave Snow White white blond hair so as she wouldn't be confused with the other Snow White. :)

Pencil,watercolours 19x8(cm)

Edit Because i saw that my portrayal of Snow White as a blonde has caused some confusion, here is some further explaining. Please read (and check the links if you want more details ) before you comment.

I personally wasn't familiar with this particular fairytale until recently.I was provided with a couple links by the commissioner and worked with those, according to which this Snow White ( Schneewei▀chen in German, from the fairytale Snow White and Rose Red [link] ) is an entirely different character from the more famous, black haired Snow White (Schneewittchen in German, from the fairytale Snow White (and the Seven Dwarfs) ).
So,different fairytales,different settings,different plots,different girls. ;)

I love the tale of Snow White and Rosy Red. It was one of my favorites as a child, and indeed, still is as an adult.

I actually love that you gave this Snow White blonde hair instead of black, it shows that they're different people from different stories

They both look very pretty!

Snow White looks pretty as a blonde. I usually picture her with lighter hair, unlike the more famous one with black hair. (Although I've seen depictions of Snow White with brown hair - an old anime adaptation that I've watched is one example.)

The different spellings are actually meant to imply a class difference, given that they both mean "snow white", but in different dialects. Snow White in Snow White and Rose Red is a commoner, while Snow White in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a princess.

I remember stumbling across this fairytale on day when I was a lot younger, and I've never seen it since that day.
