ACEO The Princess and the Frog by Achen089 ACEO The Princess and the Frog by Achen089
My take on The Frog Prince fairytale, in a renaissance twist. :D
No iconic kissing scene though as i based it on one of the original versions in which the princess is not only a spoiled brat but also a little aggressive and throws the frog against the wall at some point. This (or the shock most probably) causes his transformation to a conveniently handsome young prince and the princess has a change of heart and marries him then and there. Now why would he want to marry her is a mystery but you know, there are far more weird unions and endings in some of those fairytales. :O

Pencil, watercolours, white and gold acrylic, 6.4 x 8.9 cm (2.5 x 3.5 inches).

You can see the rest of this fairytale collection here ->…

According to Maria Tartar in her collection of "Annotated Grimm's Fairytales", the frog represents male genitalia and the princess's actions toward the frog symbolizes a young maiden's disgust and horror upon seeing said genitalia.

This is beautiful.

And she since did indeed have a change of heart, let's not be cynical and just appreciate the romance and magic of the story :).

I hope you don't mind but I included your Princess and the Frog illustration in a reading of the Grimm Brothers tale found here: [link]

I included your deviantart name in the credits and a link to your deviation.
