I need your help,i'm looking for a movie i saw aaages ago,i don't remember title,actors,nothing really,but i had loved it so much and i want to find it again.It must be of the film noir genre,it's black & white and the plot is about a woman who is held captive in a man's house - from what i remember he's trying to present her as his mentally ill wife,later to be murdered commit suicide.I remember that the room he held her in had a window to the sea - and she finally tricked him by throwing a garment or something so he'd think she jumped.There might be a cat coming in and out of her room as well.

..Could it be Hitchcock's??
